Our PPA Challenge this week is to create a card in Your Signature Style.
Since my favorites are monochromatic cards and flowers, I thought I’d better create that for today’s PPA Challenge. The only thing was, it was supposed to be in purples... somehow it turned out to be Baja Breeze. But with the new gorgeous purple coming in the new IBC, I’m happy to wait.

I fell in love with this easy to make flower. You can make it any size you’d like and as many layers as you like. I found it in April’s Scrapbooks Etc magazine.

Looped Flower Tutorial...
6 X 3 pc DSP layer 1
6 X 4 pc DSP layer 2
1/8” Double Sided Tape
Pencil to soften and roll DSP over
Paper Trimmer and Bone Folder
Note: tutorial shown in Retired DSP.

Cut, roll your DSP around your pencil to soften enough so it rolls up a bit like in step 2 of the picture. Add your 1/8 double stick tape to the 6” long edge and secure to the other edge. It will resemble a paper towel tube... You will do both pieces of DSP this way.

Using your bone folder, flatten both at the seam and then along the other edge, you are folding flat. Punch your flower center out with a 1/2” Circle Punch. Your flower center can be any size you like...

Using your paper trimmer, slice about 8 (you might use 6, 7, 8 or 9 it just depends) from the 6 X 3 piece in 1/8” strips of the tube. Now, pinch both folded ends together to open each slice into a petal. On the backside of your flower center add Tomboy Multi Purpose Adhesive...

(note: in photo above, 8 slices just depends. I only used 6 of mine for each layer.)
Adhere the flower petals from the 6 X 3 DSP to the backside of your flower center, touching each petal in the center and keeping the seam hidden by the flower center...

For layer 2, you will use a smaller center so it hides behind the first flower center and you will want to here adhere it in the middle of the 1st flower center on top of the 1st layer of petals. Clear as mud, right? Okay... reread it, it’s right.

In the next photo, you can see how the smaller flower center sits and that the 2nd layer of petals are adhered between the first layer and are from the 6 X 4 pc of DSP.
Remember the 2nd layer of petals is actually the bottom of the flower when you are done. Your shorter layer goes on first, it goes on the backside of the flower center you want to see.

Now, turn over your flower and your done except for embellishing the center. I used the Basic Pearls in graduated sizes.

Here’s one with both layers the same size...

I hope you enjoyed my card and Loopy Looped Flower Tutorial today. I’d love to see your signature style. Remember you have until next Tuesday at Noon to upload your card to the PPA.

if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask...
Personal Note to all:
I really want to say thank you for sticking with me while I get over this neck thing. I don’t know if the antibiotics are working or not... some days yes and some days no. Today is a good day. I know I owe a lot of you a reply to your email. I am so far behind and so totally embarrassed by it. Since this all started I only have 3 cards created that you haven’t seen. That’s sad!!! It seems if I’m not working, I’m napping with the cats.
But, I do have 2 new things to share... 1. I have a new job!!! Yep, I quit Michaels to go to work for Lynne at our local Scrapbook Store, Scrap-a-doodle. I start training this month and will be working there part-time evenings beginning in July. I am so excited and looking forward to working with Lynne and her Doodle Crew. If you ever in the Peoria, IL area, ask anyone where the Metro Center is and you’ll find me.
2. I bought the Silhouette Studio Electronic Cutter. It is sooooo cool. I absolutely love it. It’s the one where you purchase individual images. You can cut, print and design. I’ve only cut out a fern so far, but I love it!!!! Plus it tells you the exact dimensions when you are re-sizing... how cool is that. Plus I got it for 169.00 and free shipping. That’s the only way to go.
