PPA “Brads” Challenge

This weeks PPA challenge is Brads...

Brads

oh wait, that’s not the picture... its this one,Buttons PPA 91

I created my card using the Paisley Petals DSP

PPA 95, Brads, Border Punch Flower, Butterflies, Carla's Scraps (5)

Did you know you could bleach your Victorian Crochet Trim to nearly snow white?  Sure can, the longer it sits, the whiter it gets.  Its doesn’t look as white as it actually in the photo.

PPA 95, Brads, Border Punch Flower, Butterflies, Carla's Scraps (3)

My flower is made by punching a border along a 12” length of DSP and scoring at approx 1/4” across.  I had to do a little shifting on the Scor-Pal so the score lines would be between each scallop and then on center of every scallop.  I did a little fan folding and glued it down onto a 1” punched circle with Tomboy Liquid Glue

I placed the Ice Circle Rhinestone Brads about midway on each side of the front and one as the flower center.

The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes surrounded by the Modern Label and Word Window Punch.  The butterfly body is accented with Basic Pearls and punched with the Butterfly Punch.  The wings are popped up with Pop Dots.

Well, I have a neck update for you... I have been referred to a different doctor and my appointment is June 1st.  I am so disappointed that I’m not better.  I am sooooo fed up and discouraged.  I do appreciate all you wonderful comments and well wishes.  Please know I read them all and I will visit your blog as soon as I can.  It is a battle I will win!  Thank you so much!!!

I hope you enjoyed my card today and I hope you will play with us at the PPA!!!

PPA Sketch Challenge

First, I’d like to thank you for your kind and encouraging words while my neck heals.  It starts getting better and then we take a step or two backwards.  I go back Friday and I’m pretty sure he is going to send me in for an MRI.  I’ve been dodging it, hoping it’ll get better.  I doubt he lets me try that argument again.  *smile*

Today’s challenge at the PPA is a Margaret Moody sketch...

I actually inked up my unused Circle Circus Stamp Set.  I was so proud of myself.  Its one of my unused favorites.  The colors for todays card are Night of Navy, Whisper White, and Peach Parfait.

PPA 94, Circle Circus, Carla's Scraps (4)

The gems are from the Rhinestone Brad collection.  I took off the metal brad and adhered with a mini glue dot.  The butterfly body is the Basic Pearls.  The butterflies were created  by embossing a piece of Peach Parfait scrap with the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder and punching with the Butterfly Punch.

and here’s the inside, adding a bit of Peach Parfait Ribbon...

I hope you’ll join us at the Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge this week!!!  We so love to see what you create.  You inspire us too!!!

I wanted to create a simple, yet elegant card for this weeks PPA Challenge.   Of course, mine has to have flowers... vellum flowers that is.  I found this awesome tutorial for these gorgeous beauties awhile back at Selma’s Stamping Corner.  I followed Selma’s tutorial as stated, but you can layer any SU Punches like this.

PPA Celebrity Color Challenge

Welcome to the PPA Celebrity Color Challenge!!!  Colleen Dietrich joins the Pals Paper Arts Design Team as Celebrity Guest Artist this week.  Come play with this wonderful palette of spring colors - Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait and Poppy Parade.

PPA 92

I took major liberty’s with my colors today.  I had this card nearly finished a few weeks back when my neck problem came about.  Since the colors were in my image, I decided to go with this one.

PPA 92, On the Grow, Elegant Soiree, Scallop Border Tag, Carla's Scraps (2)

My orange layers are Poppy Parade, Peach Parfait and Tangerine Tango.  My leaves include Pear Pizzaz marker.  I colored my image in with Prisma Colored Pencils and shaded with SU Markers.  The thank you is from the bottom, right corner of the sentiment stamp from Strength and Hope.  I stamped and colored my focal image from On the Grow twice so I could cut out some flowers and pop them onto the image for dimension.

PPA 92, On the Grow, Elegant Soiree, Scallop Border Tag, Carla's Scraps (5)

My tag is made using the Scallop Trim Corner Punch by inserting a rectangle into the punch, clear to the back and punching.  There is a stop back there, but be sure your cardstock is lined up square to it.  I then trimmed off the extra from each side using my paper trimmer and lining it up along the bottom edge of the tag.  My tag is approx 1 1/2” wide.

I think my favorite tool is my paper trimmer.  I just wish they were easy to purchase.  I would love to have a new one and I keep having to return them because they don’t cut square.  Which tool is your favorite?

Its time to close this post.  I hope you come and play at the PPA this week.  We would love to see what you create.  You give us so much incentive and its such a joy to see all the cards that are uploaded.  Please know, I will visit you soon.  My computer time is so limited with my neck injury.  I have another Dr. appointment Friday, so I’m hopeful.Photobucket

Masculine Birthday Card and a personal note...

I created this card for the manager of our framing dept.  Jim and I have closed the store every Tuesday for nearly 8 years.  When I went into work this past Saturday, he had been taken off Tuesday nights and will now close on Fridays... I am sooooooooooooooooooooo sad!!!!

I had to use the retired Taylor Made set, as the tag shows his number at work. lol  When I gave it to him, he got tears.  Which made me tear up.  Wow!

Jim's BDay, Masculine, Tailor Made, Carla's Scraps

I dyed the brad for the tag using my Not Quite Navy Marker and then threaded the other buttons with a piece of cardstock.  If you look closely you will see I left the cardstock between the two buttons.  When I went to adhere them, I got them a tad too close.

Then inside, I just wrote a little birthday message and I signed it in the little rectangle piece.

Jim's BDay, Masculine, Tailor Made, Carla's Scraps (3)

I wish I could say my neck was better.  Its not and being on the computer for any length of time, is just hell.  I’m sorry to use that word, but there is not another to describe it.   My good mood is out the window, too.  I am so thoroughly disgusted, depressed and just plain irritable.  Which makes card making virtually impossible.

Please forgive me for not getting to your blog recently.  I promise I will, just be patient with me.  My most favorite thing to do is visiting your blog.  I get so much inspiration and incentive.  I will be back tomorrow for my PPA card!!!  That could be all I’m able to do for the next few weeks while I heal.

I received a couple blog awards from Linda and Lisa and I will post those soon!

I hope you all have an awesome day!
