Embedded Embossing

Last Friday I posted a card for the Embedded Embossing Technique.  Fridays post is here if you missed it.  The photo below was part of Fridays post, the Embedded Embossing Tutorial.  I added some flowers and a little bling to this one below and its finished.

Layered Embossing (7)

I wanted lots of contrast on this card.  So I used a Color Coach Combination of Basic Black, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive.  I had to pull out the retired Night and Day to add some white to tone it down a bit.

Embedded Embossing Technique (3)

I added to few white pearls to represent Baby’s Breath. I needed to widen the flowers a bit.

Embedded Embossing Technique

Have you seen this technique yet?  Its so fun and awesome!!!  I’ve seen it on quite a few blogs and just had to try it.  So I pulled out some retired Cameo Coral and went to town.

I was inspired to use some retired DSP while I was blog hoppin’ yesterday.  For the life I can’t remember where I was, but you do ... I left you a comment, that you inspired me to pull out some of my retired DSP!!!  Here it is.  *smile*

Layered Embossing (3)

Layered Embossing (4)

Notice how some of the flowers are embedded right in the embossing?  I punched out some flowers with the Boho Blossoms Punch, leaves with the Blossom Petals Punch and lightly adhered them to my oval and ran it thru the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  How cool that!  Talk about making your own background paper.  I love it.  Did I say that already?  Here’s the inside...

Layered Embossing (2)

Here’s the Embedded Embossing Technique Tutorial...

Determine your layout, a layer or two or three... place your pieces however you want them to be when your done, tack them down with some Snail Adhesive...Layered Embossing

now line it up in your Square Lattice Embossing Folder...Layered Embossing (8)

Run it thru your Big Shot or Cuddlebug and this is what ya get... Layered Embossing (6)

Layered Embossing (7)

Is that not cool... I will show you how I finished mine on Monday.   Reading others blogs, they say you need to use an Embossing Folder that doesn’t have much space between the embossing or your pieces will want to pop out.  Also they say, too many layers will be hard to get thru you Big Shot or Cuddlebug.

Make it an awesome weekend.  I hope you enjoyed my fun today!!!

Scallop Circle Card with Flower Blossom Punch w/Flower Center Tutorial

The Pals Paper Arts Challenge this week is Scallops.  Scallops are definitely one of Mother Nature's best designs!  Pals Paper Arts challenges you to use scallops as your element of style somewhere in your design this week.  Keep it CAS and let those fancy edges shine! The Design Team is Dee-lighted to welcome Nina Dee once again as featured artist. Scallops PPA 82
I am also entering this card in the Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge, To "Die" For!!! I hope you visit Hand Stamped Sentiments and check out the Design Teams Inspiration... awesome!!!

Well, I did a Google Image Search, I couldn’t come up with any ideas for Scallops.  I kept thinking Seafood.  Well, low and behold my own Scallop Circle Card came up and I thought, heck lets do another.Scallop Circle Card, Blossom Petals Punch, PPA 82 (2)
Of course I had to use Springtime Vintage DSP and a little Spirelli String Art.  Here’s my Scallop Circle Card Tutorial.  It includes the Spirelli String Art Technique.  I used Marina Mist to go with my card today, it works beautifully with the Springtime Vintage DSP.Scallop Circle Card, Blossom Petals Punch, PPA 82
My first flower from the Blossom Petals Punch was as big as the card, so I sized it down a bit.  For my flower center, I used a small Sun punch from Marvy.  Just punched out some Daffodil Delight Suns and used an embossing tool to soften the cardstock, let it curl up, layered and glued right onto the punched flower center.  See photo below...  You’ll need your tweezers, too.Blossom Petals Punch Flower Centers

Punch Potpourri in Easter and Spring Colors

This is the card I created for the Paper Players Sketch Challenge this week.   I so love this sketch and I hope you enjoy my card.  The colors were inspired by a card Linda Fisher from Linda’s Stampin Loft created.

February Sketch Challenge 35

Easter, Punch Potpourri, Spring, Flowers, Paper Players 35 (5)

Linda’s card were these beautiful soft colors and that’s why I chose to use Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink, and Certainly Celery.  I wanted to add a little glam, so I used some of the parts from a flourish gem sticker.  I added the blue gems to the right corner to carry the blue to that side of the card.

Easter, Punch Potpourri, Spring, Flowers, Paper Players 35 (8)

I stamped the Pretty in Pink flowers from the Punch Potpourri Stamp Set onto Pink Piroutte Textured Cardstock and cut them out with my snips right up to the ink line on the petals.  I then punched out the Boho Blossoms Punch flowers in Pretty in Pink Textured Cardstock and layered behind with a Glue Dot.  Its only about an 1/8 of an inch, but it really sets those flowers off.  Using the glue dot, raises it off the background layer just enough to notice.  Well, maybe not in my picture below, but it does when you see the card.Easter, Punch Potpourri, Spring, Flowers, Paper Players 35 (7)

I did the same thing with the leaves.  I stamped the center part of the leaf from  the Build A Blossom Stamp Set onto Certainly Celery Textured Cardstock and snipped it out, right to the ink line.  Then I punched the same leaf from the Blossom Petals Punch on Certainly Celery Textured Cardstock and layered with a glue dot.

I auditioned Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery Ribbon, but Pretty in Pink won this round.  Which meant, my Happy Easter from Teeny Tiny Wishes had to be Certainly Celery.

Here’s the inside...Easter, Punch Potpourri, Spring, Flowers, Paper Players 35 (2)

Supply List...Easter, Punch Potpourri, Spring, Flowers, Paper Players 35 (7)

  • Punch Potpourri Stamp Set
  • Build A Blossom Stamp Set
  • Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set/
  • Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink, and Whisper White Textured Cardstock
  • Subtles DSP Collection
  • Boho Blossoms  and Blossom Petals Punch
  • Heart Punch
  • Heart from Punch Windows and Curly Label Die
  • Embosslits Scalloped Heart of Hearts Die

I can’t believe so many supplies went into this little 6 X 3 card!!!  How funny!!!

I think Mom will like her Easter Card... its not Navy and Orange.  *smile*  I won’t ask her opinion on this one.  I hope you like my card and it inspires you to use your Punch Potpourri Set.  I will hate to see it go.

Ice Cream Parlor 3 X 3, Four Card Set

I just love 3 X 3 cards.  They can be used as package decorations and you can get the perfect size envelopes for them, if you need them.  Plus, they are so fun and easy to make.  You could create a gift set for someone in the hospital, or just for anyone, for any occasion.

I had to create some fun ones with Ice Cream Parlor and Punch Bunch.  The cool part, they are both in the Sale-a-Brations catalog... FREE!!!  Gotta love that.

IMGP3215

Do you like that border separating the two the DSP’s?  Using the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch, 119275 I just cut off the scallops on one side.  Doesn’t look like that punch at all.

IMGP3213

I stamped the image twice, cut out the flowers and popped them on the base layer for added dimension.

IMGP3211

Even thought its square, I thought the Happy Birthday was the perfect center for my flower... I love the Bigz XL Flower Folds Die.

IMGP3212

I created these cards awhile back and I so wish I’d of found the owl with the arms sooner... this one would have had them to.  You can see him here:  Owl Birthday Card

To create the layered owl above:  Stamp him on your base color (Pacific Point for mine), only inking the feet of the stamp and then punch, lining up the feet.  Now stamp the owl in the color you want the owl, onto Whisper White (mine is Pacific Point ink on White) and cut him out by hand.  Stamp the owl one more time on the DSP that you want his clothes to be and cut that out by hand.  Layer and your good to go.

To make his eyes pop, stamp on Whisper White and use your Circle Punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Set, center and punch.  I adhered mine with a Mini Glue Dot, it gives it just a tad more dimension.  Add the black center by punching a pc of Black Cardstock with your regular ‘silver’ hole punch.  Add the highlights with your white Signo Pen.

IMGP3208

IMGP3209

You probably noticed I don’t have all the insides of the cards shown, I gave this set away before I realized not all my pictures came out without being blurry.

I hope you enjoyed my little set and you took away a tip or two.  I love that touch of added dimension, even though not all my cards have that.  Then again, at others times I’m real anal about it.  No happy medium for me.  *smile*  What drives you the craziest when creating?

Punch Art Lilac Card and Mojo Monday 178

I wanted to make a card to go with the Punch Art Hydrangea/Lilac Tutorial I posted earlier today and decided to use the Mojo Monday Sketch.

Mojo178SketchHere’s the card I created with the Punch Art Lilac Tutorial...

Punch Art Lilac and Mojo Monday 178 (3)

Punch Art Lilac and Mojo Monday 178 (4)

I wanted you to see the different angles of the card so you could see the depth and range of colors in the Lilac.  I used the Lap of Luxury DSP for the card even though there isn’t any Concord Crush in the Lilac... but its such a deep color and really helps the Lilac to pop off the card.
