Its an Elements of Style...

challenge at the PPA this week.  You are gonna want to Play at the PPA in this awesome, Button, button, who’s got the Button Challenge.  Here’s your incentive picture.  Lots of color and lots of fun.  Yet keep it simple, it’s a Clean and Simple challenge too.  Mine might not be clean, but its simple!!!PPA 62 Button Button whos got the button

Here’s the card I created for this weeks Elements of Style Challenge...

PPA 62 Button Button Who's Got the Button

I kinda kept the sketch from last weeks PPA challenge and went with it.  I got into those rounded corners.  I wanted something bright, with a chill in the night air, I just wasn’t ready to go with fall colors, yet.  Even though, with Stampin Ups Designer Series Buttons, how could you go wrong in any color.

My Supplies for today...PPA 62 Button Button Who's Got the Button (2)

  • Watercolor Trio for Sentiment (Retired)
  • Melon Mambo DSP, Brights Collection 117155
  • Whisper White Cardstock
  • Wild Wasabi Textured Cardstock (leaves)
  • Melon Mambo Textured
  • Designer Buttons from the Subtles Collection (Rose Red)
  • White Satin Ribbon 114616
  • Corner Rounder 109047
  • Ticket Corner Punch to make the Tags 119867
  • 2 Step Owl for the leaves and stems 117191
  • DMC Embroidery Floss for the Buttons

Yes, I did use Melon Mambo DSP and the buttons are Rose Red.  I didn’t know they were different colors until I went to write out my supply list.  But they match just fine.

I had completely forgotten Watercolor Trio is no longer available.  But any sentiment from any set would be perfect.

I hope you enjoyed my card today and I can’t wait to see yours.  I would love it if you’d leave me a comment.  Any questions about any of my projects or Stampin Up, don’t hesitate to ask.  I’m here to help!!!  Hugs to all and make it an awesome day.  I’m off for the next 3 days... so you’ll be seeing me more.  I hate being there 5 days a week, this is so much more fun.

A Countryside Birthday

Its time for a Sketch Challenge over at the Pals Paper Arts.  As always, our sketches are by our very own Margaret Moody!!!

 PPA 61 PPA 61

I have been experimenting with taking photos of my cards, and its not been a fun adventure.  I’ve been trying to lighten and brighten, but it seems to distort the background color.  It brings a blackish ring around the card into focus.  I’ve tired Picasa, Elements and even the one that comes with Windows.  Its just a pain.   Apparently I am going to have to invest in a light tent or make one.   Hopefully they’ll look better than they do now.  Anyway, back to my card and the Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge.

Be sure to upload your card by Noon, next Tuesday.  While your there be sire to grab our badge for your blog.  Today’s supplies...PPA 61 (6)

  • Countryside 120495
  • Pacific Point Textured Cardstock
  • Pacific Point DSP (Brights Collection) 117155
  • XL Decorative Label Punch 120907
  • Wide Oval Punch 112082
  • Pacific Point Stamp Pad
  • My Gems
  • Coloring: Gamsol Colored Pencil Technique

Lets see, I have a couple things coming up for you.  I have a cute, cute pink card for the cutest little female I’ve ever seen.  You might have seen her video’s...  Muffy Schach.  I have a Halloween Gift Card that holds a little Test Tube full of mini M & M’s.  I have a card that I created the background for, using stamp pads.  Its kinda cute, I just put the tag on upside down.  Have ya ever had that, you know something's wrong, but just can’t quite put your finger on it.   Then finally it hits ya.

Well, make it an awesome day!  I’m off to the PPA to see what you all have uploaded!!!Post Signature

Its a Halloween Challenge at the PPA!!!

Halloween is my favorite time of year to create cards and treats.  I have no idea why, its really not the colors, I just know its fun to do and so much cooler outside.

I wanted a Halloween card, but not ghoulish one.  So I did a little Spider Web embossing and a bit of a Picket Fence to accent my pumpkins so it wouldn’t look like a fall card.  I might even go back and ‘carve’ my pumpkin using the face stamp from Autumn Harvest and the Stamp-a-ma-jig.  I tried about a hundred times stamping and cutting out the spider for my web, but I kept cutting off the legs, so I decided it just didn’t need one today.   However, I might buy one at work today.

Today’s sketch is my take from the Mojo Monday Sketch from the week before.PPA 61 (9)

Lets do the HOP...

Its time for the Fall/Halloween Pals Hop!!!  Where you’ll find all kinds of inspiration from Mary Fish and her Stampin’ Pretty Pals for Fall and Halloween.  I’m stop #7 and hopefully you’ve came from  Linda Callahan’s Stampin’ Seasons.  I so love her creations, today’s is no exception!!! If you missed Linda, the complete lineup is at the end of my post.

I fell in love with the Christmas House in the Holiday Mini and couldn’t wait to start my Halloween Haunted House.  I covered the house and then everyday after that I thought of something new to add.  Finally I just had to say, enough it’s done.  Then I went to work and remembered all the Lemax Halloween figures and figurines.   I could of went nuts, but I decided to keep it a paper craft.  Its a good thing because I wouldn’t of had my pictures taken, Ricky laid down on the fence.  I got up to take his picture, but of course he took off before I could get to the camera.  Ricky is Annie’s brother and I apparently made this Haunted House for him.  *smile*
Well, I hope you enjoyed my Haunted House today.  I sure had fun making it.  I messed up on my Roof front a bit, but hey its Ricky’s now.  lol
I wanted to make some of my Punch Art Pumpkins, but I so ran out of time.  So this is from last year, just in case you’d like to make some.  The tutorial is here.

You can find my Punch Art Pumpkin Tutorial is here.  Your next stop is Pam from The Wacky Whippet Stamper.  Your gonna love what Pam has today!!!

Sunny Garden and the 2 Steppin’ Owl...

Sunny Garden - 2 Step Owl (5)

I wanted a fun card and I wanted to use the 2 Step Owl Punch and this is what transpired.  Actually, I made 2 and the second one I’ll show in another post.  I’m not fond of covering up all those beautiful flowers on the base layer in this card.

I love the 2 Step Owl Punch because I love to do Punch Art, any kind of Punch Art!  I love the Sunny Garden DSP because it has Whisper White in it and not Very Vanilla.  Alot of the DSP has Very Vanilla instead of Whisper White in it this year... just not my style.Sunny Garden - 2 Step Owl (5)

Supplies for today’s card...

  • Sunny Garden DSP 119831
  • Poppy Parade Textured Cardstock
  • 2 Step Owl Punch 118074
  • Nestibilities
  • Gems from my Stash

Well thats it for today... I’m working on my SDU Class Outline and projects.  Remember if you’re in Peoria, IL stop in Michaels and say Hi!!!

Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge

PPA 59 Celebrity Color Challenge Sept 9 2010

Welcome to the Pals Paper Arts Celebrity Color Challenge.  Today’s Celebrity Guest Designer is the talented Beate Johns.  Beate is a pioneer in the on-line stamping world and was part of Splitcoast Stampers when it first began.   It is an honor to have her as our first guest artist!  Join Beate and the PPA Design Team with your PPA color inspired card.

I wanted to do a bit coloring for this challenge.  So I pulled out my very favorite new stamp set from the Idea Book and Catalog, Happiness Shared.  Stamping it twice with Stazon Jet Black, I colored it in with my Prisma’s.  Using the second image, I cut out the main flower and 2 leaves.

PPA 59 Color Challenge (5) copy

I wanted a clean and simple card for this image, so I embossed the base layer of the card with the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder, added 2 layers of pop dots on the back of the framed image layer to make it really pop off the card.  A touch of Daffodil Delight Ribbon and the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Perfect Punches stamp set and I was just about done.  I added a few scattered pop dots to the back of my cut out flower image and popped it right over the base layer image.  Added my gems and its done.

A tip for adding a bit more depth to your flowers:  Scatter pop dots around the petals, but in the center of the image use a mini glue dot.  It makes the flower have so much more depth.
