Pals Paper Arts 43

I made a quick card last night for the PPA Theme Challenge, Memorial Day.  I hope your playing too.PPA 43 Memorial Day Theme (2)

I actually made two because I always stamp an extra image or two just in case they don’t turn out and they both turned out.  Pure luck, I tell ya.

Supplies...

  • Night of Navy DSP from the Hostess Level 1 Set 116234
  • Real Red Cardstock
  • Night of Navy Cardstock
  • Whisper White Cardstock
  • Square Lattice Embossing Folder 119976
  • Large Star Punch 110710
  • Star Punch 109045
  • Scallop Trim Border Punch (card on left) 118402
  • Night of Navy 1/4” Ribbon (card on right) 109036
  • Stamp from my stash

As you can see on the card on the right, I punched the smaller Star out and then centered the Large Star Punch over that and punched again.   I added cut up strips of Pop Dots to the Large Star to raise it above the smaller Star.  I adhered the smaller Star with a Mini Glue Dot.

Have you popped over here from the PPA?  The Design Team did an awesome job!!  Be ready for the next Pals Blog Hop, coming June 8th.  Can you believe its already the 21st of May?  Which would of been my Grandma’s 93rd Birthday... I am remembering her, as I do everyday and the Servicemen and Women who have made and make our Country Free and Safe!!!

Hugs to all!!!

Pocket Full of Posies...

First I have some news to share,  good and bad.  Lets start with the bad and just get that out of the way.  I haven’t posted much, no mojo and kinda upset.  My husband has been indefinitely suspended from his job of 34 years.  He says it won’t stick and we should find a little more out today.

Okay, the good news.  I have a place to teach!!!  Michaels is bringing back there classes!!!  Under a new and completely different format.  So I get the classroom twice a week.  I will be teaching the SDU Program from EK Success, (I just found out about SDU this morning in my email) I will have a weekly Card Crop and I will be able to sneak in painting class here and there.  I so love to teach and I love to talk... I just cannot wait to get started.  SDU starts in June and my Card Crop starts next Monday evening!!!  Hopefully, this is the beginning of getting my SU off the ground.

My 1 year Anniversary with SU is coming... May 25!!!  Be sure to come back and visit my blog on the 25th for some awesome and I mean awesome Stampin’ Up Blog Candy!!!

Okay, on to my card...  I hope you like it.

Pocket Full of Posies

Have you noticed the stamp set, Made to Last?  There is so much you could do with this stamp set.  From men’s cards to creating a pocket for flowers, tags over even for a fancy lace border punch paper hankie.    115205L Made to Last

I created today’s card because of the tutorial I found at Flower Foot Designs and they were on the cover of this months Stampin’ Success Magazine that is exclusive to Demo’s only.  You can find the tutorial here.  These flowers are so easy and awesome.

You just need to cut out some spirals... SU even has a die with spirals, wrap it around a Quilling Tool or your Piercing Needle and glue the ends.  I added a little Crystal Effects to the tops and dipped in glitter.  image

Simply Scrappin’...

Happy B Day Simply Scrappin Kit

I created this card right from the Idea Book and Catalog.  This card was the main reason I bought the Happy B Day Simply Scrappin’ Kit, 115695.  I added a few metal gems from my stash and in under 10 minutes I had another Quick n Easy Card suitable for anyone.  Here’s the inside...

Happy B Day Simply Scrappin Kit (5)

The second card is a close copy from the IBC...Happy B Day Simply Scrappin Kit (4)

Happy B Day Simply Scrappin Kit (3)

Here they are together...  aren’t they bright and cheery?Happy B Day Simply Scrappin Kit (2)

Wouldn’t they make perfect Kids Cards?  I think the Simply Scrappin’ Kits are so handy and easy to use.  This set will retire, due to the colors in it are on the Retiring List.  I am so anxious to see the new Simply Scrappin’ Kits in July.

Thanks for browsing my Blog today... I’d love it if you’d take a minute to leave a comment.  Let me know what you’d like to see in upcoming posts...   Hugs,

PPA 42 Color Challenge

Today’s challenge over at the PPA is a Color Challenge...

6a00e54f95df9288340133ed75e2dd970b-320wi

I didn’t know where I was going with today’s PPA Color Challenge.  I knew I didn’t want lots of color, instead lots of white space.  As I was going thru my DSP, I knew it, as soon as I saw the Pink Flamingo with Real Red flowers on one side and Tempting Turquoise on the other.  I then thought of the Folded Circle Scallop Flower over at Lynn Pratt’s, Stamp-n-Design.  How perfect, you could see both sides of the DSP at once.  Here’s the results...

PPA 42

Mom asked how I was going to pull off those colors on one card... she said it turned out “Gorgeous”!!!  I was so happy, aren’t Mom’s awesome!!!  Here’s a close-up of that flower...

PPA 42

Here’s a tip for ya...  Tip:  If you want less of one the colors in your DSP to show on the flowers, don’t cut the flower in half after the folding process, as in her directions.  Mine below are not cut in half which means less Tempting Turquoise will show.  Both results are “gorgeous”!!!

and of course, the inside...

Punch Art Flowers Rosebud Tutorial and Card

 Rosebud Tutorial Card

This card, Punch Art Rosebuds has been in the back of my mind for quite awhile now.  I am so happy to have it done so I can show you.  I was making it for my cousin, Elaine.  Well it turned out to be one my hubby, Steve can pick out of my stash for me.  *clever*  Ya know, sometimes ya gotta do things like that.  Yup, he knows its there, lets see how long it takes him to pick it.  I’ll let ya know.

Here’s where I got my idea for the calyx,  My Ramblings.  The things you gals see in these punches... I thought I had good eyes.  My original Rosebud idea, didn’t include this calyx... but I love Lynette’s so much, I had to incorporate it into mine, needing one punch is so much easier.

Rosebud Tutorial Card (3)

Rosebud Tutorial Card (2)

My supplies today for the card include... Retired Sweet Nothings DSP, Chit Chat Rub Ons 111804, Real Red Ribbon 109052, Oval Nestibilities, Stick Pin from Blue Mountain, Beads and Gems from my stash, Scallop Oval Punch 114889, Small Oval Punch 107304, Large Oval Punch 107305, Eyelet Border Punch 113692, Pink Pirouette Cardstock and Real Red Cardstock.  Its easy to get away with using Real Red Cardstock with only this tiny bit of Red Riding Hood showing on the pink in this DSP.

Now for the Punch Art Flowers Rosebud Tutorial...

Supplies you’ll need for this tutorial.

  • 2 Step Bird Punch 117191
  • Old Olive Textured Cardstock or any green you prefer
  • Real Red Textured Cardstock or color of your choice
  • Matching Ink Pads to age the edges of the leaves and rosebuds
  • Daubers  102892
  • 2 – Way Glue Pen 100425
  • Scissors 103579  (I love these!!!)
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals 104430
  • Mini Glue Dots 103683

Rosebud Tutorial using 2 Step Bird Punch (30)

Line up your Old Olive as shown in the picture and punch 1 for each Rosebud.  I cut out my fern at the same time.  Later, when you need them you can cut out longer stems, we are just going to use the little leaves right now.

Rosebud Tutorial using 2 Step Bird Punch (26)In the circle above, is what you have just cut out... this part is going to be inserted in to leaf on the 2 Step Bird Punch, as shown below.

Rosebud Tutorial using 2 Step Bird Punch (24)

Try to center the point of the ‘tail’ to the center, back of the leaf.  Mine is a tad off, but its okay... no one will ever notice.  Unless you tell them.  Rosebud Tutorial using 2 Step Bird Punch (18)

Now, punch out three Real Red Textured leaves from the 2 Step Bird Punch.  Trim off the center leaf from the 1st leaf set you punched.  Punch another stem, I just used scrap (its the stem shown on top),

Rosebud Tutorial using 2 Step Bird Punch (16)

These are the pieces you will keep... above.  Now age/distress the edges with matching ink.  Try to get the middle rosebud petal to be the darkest.  It sits in the background and will be in shadow.

Rosebud Tutorial using 2 Step Bird Punch (15)

With Mini Glue Dots adhere the left petal to the middle petal as shown.  Now slip the right petal on top of the right side of the pair, as shown below...

Rosebud Tutorial using 2 Step Bird Punch (13)

Now attach your Old Olive Calyx... see below.  Lining the center bottom to the center bottom of the petal... mine is a tad off.

Rosebud Tutorial using 2 Step Bird Punch (12)

Now turn it over and trim off the excess Real Red Cardstock, it should like this when your done... (Its super easy to trim!  You’ll be surprised)

Rosebud Tutorial using 2 Step Bird Punch (11)

Here comes the rest of those pieces...

Rosebud Tutorial using 2 Step Bird Punch (10)

Add your stem, the 2 little leaves (attach by the third leaf with a mini glue dot on the back).... now add that last one on top.  See photo below.

Rosebud Tutorial using 2 Step Bird Punch (9)

Rosebud Tutorial using 2 Step Bird Punch (3)

There’s your Rosebuds.  Are they not cute!!!  I love them so much.  Thanks again Lynette, your calyx is awesome.  See Lynette’s instructions here...  My Ramblings

I hope you enjoy my Rosebud Tutorial today.  You can see my other Punch Art Flower Tutorials under Tutorials on my side bar.  I have a Trumpet Vine, Poinsettia, Pansy and I even have Pumpkins and the cutest Bunny.
