Pansy Punch Art Flower Tutorial and Card

Carla's Punch Art Pansy Tutorial (4)

You know how I love flowers!!!  Each and every flower is my very favorite.  While browsing the web, I saw a Pansies made from the Butterfly Punch.  How clever!  You can see one of them over a Dawns, Do Stampin’ with Dawn.  Since I’m a One Stroke Certified Instructor, I had to make one the way I paint.  Here’s how I did it...
Carla's Punch Art Pansy Tutorial
Punch 3 Whisper White Butterflies.  Cut the larger ends into tear drop shapes on 2 of the Butterflies, see photo above.  Cut the 3rd Butterfly in half and trim off a little of each edge on the top and cut the top off so its straight.  See lower right, photo above.
Carla's Punch Art Pansy Tutorial (6)
Now using your daubers and Elegant Eggplant and So Saffron Ink Pads, color in your petals, by holding your finger on the edge and pulling the color onto the petal, try to pull the color into the center, the way a petal grows.  I held my finger onto the center point of the tear drop and pulled in all the Elegant Eggplant.  I let that dry, turned and pulled in the yellow.  Be sure to leave white space for the yellow, don’t color the entire petal in EE.   Carla's Punch Art Pansy Tutorial (10)

Line up your petals as in the picture above.  I adhered mine with pop dots.Carla's Punch Art Pansy Tutorial (7)
Now with your 1/4” hole punch, punch one in So Saffron and cut off the top of the circle as shown above.  With your 1/8” punch one in Garden Green.  Adhere with a touch of glue onto the center of the Pansy as shown in the upper right of the above photo.  Now add your lines with your black Micron.  You can also choose to match the darker color of your flower.
Your Pansy center can be done either way, I chose to add a little white acrylic paint from a toothpick, making the “Pansy Smile”.  Some Pansy Smiles are more pronounced than others, depending on the variety.  Carla's Punch Art Pansy Tutorial (3)

PPA 40 Monochromatic... Blues

  PPA 40 Monchromatic blues (5)

Today’s card is for PPA Challenge, Monochromatic using Blues.  I chose to use Bashful Blue, only to realize I barely had enough DSP to do the Challenge.  But here’s my card.PPA 40 Monchromatic blues (3)

I colored in my image using the Copy Cat Copics Technique from Butternut Sage.  Using Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery and Old Olive Re-inkers.  The body of the dragonfly is a mix of the greens and blues, which is a much richer, turquoise color on the card.  PPA 40 Monchromatic blues (2)

I can’t wait to browse all the uploads today on the PPA.  Everyone is going to be using blue, I’m anxious to see all the different takes on the same color.

  • Whisper White Cardstock
  • Scallop Trim Border Punch 118402

All a Flutter Preview

April 2010 (5)

Here’s another card I made using up my retired DSP, Bella Birds.  I added some older embellishments that I’m trying to use up.  My stash is in bad need of updating.  That awesome butterfly is from the Summer Mini, All a Flutter.  Its just the cutest!  April 2010 (4)

I’m going to write a special Mother’s Day greeting on the inside for one of my friends.  Her favorite color is this shade of blue.  Below is a pic of both cards from Bella Birds.  I hope this inspires you to use up some of that older DSP so you can update your stash too.

Hugs to all...

Bordering Blue meets All Occasion Card

April 2010 (3)

Remember Bella Birds?  I love it and its been retired for so long.  But I decided to start using up my retired and retiring colors for the next few posts.

This card I classify as a Quick n Easy.  You can change the Embosslits Hi #115952 to anything, a stamped image, a flower or two or just whatever your favorite is.  The blue is Bordering Blue and I didn’t realize how much I like it til yesterday.  But, I doubt I will miss it with all those gorgeous rich new colors.

April 2010 (2)

I couldn’t get a clear pic of the inside but here it is anyway.  I’m going to use this card for a Mother’s Day for a friend of mine, with a special handwritten note on the inside.  I love the the look the Eyelet Border Punch #113692 gives to this card.

Popsicle Card Tutorial

Here are the supplies we’ll be using...  (please note if you want three layers for the front image you will need the Pendant Die #113483 also.)

  • 1 3/8 Circle Punch 104401
  • Scallop Circle Punch   109043
  • Corner Rounder   109407
  • Pendant Die   113483  optional, a 2 layer image is still awesome!!!
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Tape Runner
  • Scraps of Color to match your image.  I chose Real Red and Green Galore for this tutorial
  • Chocolate Chip Textured Cardstock
  • Scrap of Whisper White Cardstock
  • Popsicle Stick
  • Tart and Tangy Stamp Set  111514

Cut your Chocolate Chip Textured Cardstock to 5 1/2 by 3 3/4 and score at 2 3/4.  With the opening on your right, using your Corner Rounder Punch, punch the upper left corner and the two bottom corners, with the card closed.  Using your Pendant die and piece of 3” square cardstock placing it over the Scallop Circle without the seam line and zip it thru your Big Shot.  With your Scallop Circle Punch, punch a coordinating piece.  Stamp your image onto a piece of scrap white and punch that out with your 1 3/8 Circle Punch.  See photo below...Popsicle Card Tutorial (17)

Now on the top right corner, on the front of your popsicle, punch out a bite with your Scallop Circle Punch, using 4 scallops and lining up as in the photos below...

Popsicle Card Tutorial (16)

Popsicle Card Tutorial (14)

Now using the same technique and only 3 scallops, do the same to the back unpunched corner of the Popsicle Card.   Popsicle Card Tutorial 22 (2)

With a piece of coordinating scrap, one that matches your image color.  Punch on the corner of the cardstock with your Scallop Circle Punch a piece with 3 scallops.  Now moving your punch further into the Cardstock, punch again using 5 scallops.  See below...Popsicle Card Tutorial (11)

Popsicle Card Tutorial (9)

Taking the above piece, adhere to the right corner of your Popsicle Card, matching up the scallops on the inside...Popsicle Card Tutorial (6)

Lets line up that Popsicle Stick...Popsicle Card Tutorial (4)

See how I lined it up to fit between the sides of an A-2 Envelope?  Cool.  Now adhere with Red Line Tape or Scor-Pal Tape, on the back side of your card.   Popsicle Card Tutorial (2)

Add a piece of Ribbon to the Popsicle stick, using either a knot or a bow.  Sliding it up and down is what opens and closes the card.  (Did you notice I switched cards on ya...  the bite was green, now its red.)   Now adhere your Tart and Tangy image to the front, layering it as you would like.  You can place it in the center of your card and have your sentiment on the inside or push it up a bit and have the sentiment below the image.Popsicle Card Tutorial (3)

The Popsicle Card on the left is plain and the Popsicle Card on the right has the Scalloped Edges pierced, even though you don’t see it in the photo.  Here are the ones from my previous post.   You’ll see I only used 2 layers for the image.Popsicle BDay citrus

For further details about the above card, see this post titled Popsicle Sticks .

Enjoy and have fun making these.  Hugs,

Simple Flowers

Simple Flowers (3)

I finally got the Sizzix Die, Birds and Blossoms 113485 and I just love it.  But then of course its flowers.  I purchased Parisian Breeze a about a month before it retired, at the same time I became a Demo.  I thought I would use it today, you can always use any paper your want for yours.  I’m usually a big color person, but I wanted to tone it down a bit.  This could be a Sympathy Card to a Birthday Card.

I wrapped the ribbon, Masterpiece 116230, around the first layer, then using Stampin Dimensionals to pop up the second layer, I wrapped more ribbon around it and tied a bow so the ribbon from each layer looked as one.   I used the Scallop Border Punch, 112091 along all the bottom edges of my layers.  Using the Corner Rounder 109047 I punched into the top of the card on both sides. The gems in the center of the flowers are little self adhesive pearls.  I love collecting all the little gems.  They are so fun to add to your projects.  Simple Flowers

Thanks for dropping by today.  I’d love for you to leave me a comment if you have the time.
