Pals Paper Arts 23… Anything but a Card

Have you played at the PPA today?  I did and this is what I created.  An embellished clipboard.  I love lists and this one I put a magnet on the back for my refrigerator.  I even made a loop out of cardstock so I’d have a place to hang the matching pen.  There’s never a pen when I need it. 

Today’s project is made from product that’s in the upcoming Occasions Mini, that will be available on Jan 5th.  Only 6 more days for the unveiling of all the exciting products.  This sneak peak shows the background layered with paper from the new Sweetpea DSP collection.  Its awesome!!!  The flowers are from the SU Die, Blossom Party #115971 and Little Leaves die # 114511.  I used the Scalloped Edge Punch so the fancy pen would stand out, #112091.  The pen is a clear Zebra Z-Grip.  On the left of the clipboard I used the SU Corner Rounder #109047.

I decided to set off the flowers abit with some paper piercing… This is my half flower along the edge… Lastly I used some white brads and white candy dots from my stash.  The notepads are from here.  I hope you enjoyed my clipboard today.  I know I will be using it alot.  *smile*  Next up, I’m making Refrigerator Magnets, so stay tuned.  They won’t be your normal magnets either…

Happy Birthday Mom

This Birthday Card is created using new product from the Occasions Mini, available to purchase on Jan 5th.  Now, not the stamp, itself… but the paper.  Isn’t it delicious!!!  The DSP is called Shades of Spring.  The colors in the DSP are Orchid Opulence, Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Pretty in Pink and Chocolate Chip.  Awesome paper for Spring, Easter, Feminine Cards. 

To color in my flowers, first, I added my highlights with SU marker in pink, then the base color with colored pencils in lilac and then went back and did the line work with SU marker again... then I went and touched area's that I wanted recessed with a a darker SU Marker, using the tiny end, lastly I shaded the outer edge of the design in Copic.  Weird process, but I like how it turned out.  I actually stamped three of the images, so I could cut out and layer some of flower blossoms on top.The inside MOM letters is a new Stampin Up set that is in the upcoming Occasions Mini, Messages for Mom.  The sentiment says… A birthday bouquet just for you.  Filled with pleasant surprises and happiness too!  Its one from my stash.  The little flowers and leaf are Martha punches.

I made this card for Michelle, a friend of mine from work.  Her mom collects Tea Cups and I had the perfect stamp for her.  She told me, it fit her Mom perfectly.  I was so happy to hear that!!!  Its scary making a card for someone you’ve never met.

Pals Paper Arts Challenge 22

Todays challenge over at the PPA is a Sketch Challenge.  The sketch is provided by the our own Margaret Moody. 

And here’s my version of the sketch.  It seems my cards always open from the bottom.  I don’t know why I do that, but I do.   Todays card is using the new Embosslits Beautiful Wings Die, that is available in the new Occasions Mini on Jan 5th. I chose to use the Tea Party DSP #113912 for this card adding a few gems and So Saffron Ribbon.  The cardstock is textured Almost Amethyst.  My sentiment today is from Verses Rubber Stamps.  I collect butterfly stamps, dies, punches and related verses.  I don’t have too many… but hope to.  *smile*

Purse Post-It Note Pad

I had made one of these for Kirby, my Ghost Hunter friend from work, but in the traditional Halloween colors… Then a few days after that, I remembered her purse… it was pink with little skeletons all over it.  Well, I couldn’t give her the orange one, I had to make one to go with her purse.  I don’t know if you can tell in the first picture, but thats my Martha goo dripping punch with gems at the bottom of each goo drop.  *smile*  Here’s the inside pictures.Out of the 5 I’ve made so far, this is by far my favorite.  I think because of the colors.  I used Melon Mambo!!!  What a cool pink.  It was real easy, all I needed beside the DSP and Cardstock, was some Spooky Treats Rub Ons, #115729.  The ghost on the inside is a Jolee’s 3-D sticker.  The “note” stamp is from the  Holiday Mini, only available til Jan 4th, Note to Self, #116527 and its only  $11.95. A Sleddin’ We Will Go…

Aren’t they cute?  My mom loves mice and starlight mints… so when I found these stamps I knew what I was doing with them.  I added a bit of Christmas Cocoa DSP #116770, a Real Red Bow #109052 and a few gems.

For the inside…

a lazy little snowman.  I so love this snowman, he went on all the backs of my Christmas Cards last year.  He comes from the Simply Shelly Collection from Hampton Art.  Here’s a close-up of the little guy…  the pic is a little blurry though.

Both the Holly/Mint Border Stamp and 3 Mice on a Sled are from Great Impressions.

Stocking Stuffers…

I made some stocking stuffers for a few friends.  I didn’t use holiday colors so they could use them year round.  These are Magnetic Notepads for the Ref… *sorry for the blurry image, but you get the idea*  Notepads are from here. These are covered post its with matching pencils, for their purse… They close with a magnet that his hidden behind the main image on the cover and one hidden inside the flap…  you can see the Ghost Hunter one is open.  I will post the tutorial for the Covered Post Its when my magnet order arrives, as I want to take pictures as I’m making one. The Halloween one is for my Ghost Hunter Friend.   (shhhh don’t tell her) These are the treat bags I made… my girls get the frilly ones with the glittered tree and the lazy little snowman goes to my son.

Are you ready for Christmas?  I am.  Whew!!!  I didn’t post for the PPA today, only because I wanted to get things done around the house.  I made my Fudge and Peanut Brittle, wrapped a few presents, took these pics and painted some lettering on some Cowbells.  Now, I need to make a birthday card for a friend of mine.  I played with the coloring yesterday, so now its time to stamp and color the image and make the card.

Thinking of You, PPA 20

I’m so excited to be the featured stamper today at the Pals Paper Arts Challenge Blog.  Today is a color challenge and its also my birthday!!!  The color challenge today is… 

and here’s what I did with those colors…

My card base is Soft Suede Textured Cardstock with a layer of Soft Suede DSP #115688.

The image is from My Digital Studio, Thoughts and Prayers Digital Brush Set, that come with the software.  I colored the image right in the software, choosing Old Olive and printed it out using my own printer on Whisper White Cardstock, layering it on a base of Crushed Curry and Old Olive Textured Cardstock. 

The sentiment, from Sincere Salutations #115068, is hand stamped in Old Olive onto Whisper White Cardstock, cut out and layered onto Crushed Curry Textured Cardstock using my Nestibilities.  I could of used the Wide Oval #112082 Punch, but I wanted the layer of CC behind it.  I added a little bling of candy dots to the bottom and right side to complete my card.

The inside is using another image from the Digital Brush Set, Thoughts and Prayers and is created the same way as the outside image.  It is also layered onto Old Olive and Crushed Curry Textured Cardstock, adding a bit of Crushed Curry Ribbon within the layers. 

I decided to nip the edges of the base of my card in all four corners using the Ticket Corner Punch #107214.

A White Poinsettia for Elaine

While making my red poinsettia, I wondered how a white one would look.  I think it turned out pretty.  I didn’t do any inking on the edges of the Poinsettia because I didn’t want it to look dirty.  So I left it pure white, added some Handsome Hunter leaves and Certainly Celery stamens on the inside with yellow beads. 

I embossed the base of the card with Petals A Plenty Embossing Folder #116825.  I used Patti’s Embossing Folder Technique.  I then layered a pc of Christmas Cocoa DSP #116770 cut with the largest Nestiblities Oval that I had and layered on top.  Added a touch of Real Red Ribbon #109052 and 6 white self-adhesive pearls.  Here’s the inside, where I’ll write a personal sentiment and note to Elaine.

This Poinsettia card is also created with the above DSP, layering on a White base, with the Poinsettia popped onto a layer of Whisper White and Soft Suede.

The above card is my version of this tutorial over at Gretchen Barron’s. I found and fell in love with this Gift Card over at Splitcoast, its posted by Lurko2. The bow tutorial can be found at Kris’. Then, using the Simply Scrappin Kit, Christmas Jingle #115696, I made the one below. This one is my favorite, it reminds me of a country kitchen.
