Pretty in Pink Hydrangea PPA 14

PPA 14 (2)
Today the PPA challenge is all about Pink.  October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this tribute is to fellow pal, Kris’ mom, who was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Our hearts and prayers are with you and your family, today and always.

The inspiration for my card today came from the SCS Weekly Inkling Newsletter #181 and here is the tutorial for this pop up card.  This card will lay back flat and slide right into an envelope.

My card is created using Pretty in Pink Textured Cardstock.  The Whisper White circle center is layered with an embossed layer of Pretty in Pink.  The hydrangea petals are punched with Martha Stewart’s Hydrangea Punch in Whisper White Textured and retired In Color Pink Piroutte Textured Cardstock.   All the petals are glued in place right on top of the leaves.  I then accented the centers with some pink gems.  The leaves are the SU Sizzlets Little Leaves Die #114511.  The sentiment is from One of A Kind stamp set #113624.

Hop on over to the Pals Paper Arts and enter the challenge today.  They have a huge Pink Prize Package for you to win.

I hope as you are reading this and pondering your day, that you will remember to do your monthly breast exam.  It is so important to learn all you can about Breast Cancer.  Awareness, prevention, facts, what you can do… how to help a loved one with breast cancer.  Sign up for the Susan G. Komen Newsletter and get educated about breast cancer.  Its the best thing you can do for yourself.

Hugs to all…

My Funny Little Watercolored Bird…

WCFunnyBirdfrnt
I have had this image in my stash, and decided to put it together into a quick birthday card for todays post.  I stamped my image in Stazon onto 140# cold press watercolor paper.  Colored in with Watercolor pencils and regular watercolor brushes.
I wanted a simple card today without all the layers as I wanted the image to be the focus.  The card is a base of Night of Navy, with a layer of Green Galore behind the image.  I ran a quick strip of Orchid Opulence and Night of Navy Ribbon behind the image adding a Filigree Brad #112577.  The flower stamens were done by making french knots with embroidery floss.
WCFunnyBird
Here’s a close up of the french knots.  I think they really added a lot to the card.
Of course I had to do a little to the inside…
WCFunnyBird3
The inside sentiment is my favorite, I could send this sentiment to everyone that knows me and they would say, Yup its from Carla.  *smile*  Its says…
I Remembered! then I forgot.  Then I Remembered I forgot!  Hope you had a Happy Day!
The little circle sentiment on the top is covering the Filigree Brad prongs and says Happy Birthday and is from Circle of Friendship (retired).  The little flower is from Seeing Spots which is also retired.  The main image is a DRS Design that I’ve had for a few years.  The dots edge punch is from EK Success.
Enjoy and let me know or click the shop now button for any SU items you might need.  Hugs,

Pumpkin Punch Art Picture Tutorial

CLB Pumpkins (35)
Supplies:
1 3/8 Circle Punch
Small Oval Punch
Large Oval Punch
Small Leaf Punch
Textured Cardstock:  Pumpkin Pie
Old Olive and Chocolate Chip
1/8 to 1/4 Brown Quilling Strip
Clear Adhesive Dots
Sponge Dauber/Finger Dauber/Old Sponge
Stamp Pads in Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie
2 Pop Dots
CLB Pumpkins (4)
Punch 5, 1 3/8 circles and 1 Small Oval for the round pumpkin.  Punch 5 Large Ovals for the taller, oblong pumpkin. CLB Pumpkins (3)Using your finger dauber or old sponge, ink the edges of your punched shapes using your pumpkin pie ink pad.CLB Pumpkins (12)
Using a clear adhesive dot, adhere your 5 punched circles as shown above.  3 on the left and 2 on the right. CLB Pumpkins (14)
Place a pop dot as in the picture on the front of your pumpkin on the set on the right. CLB Pumpkins (15)
Now, just slide the right pair behind the set of 3 circles on the left and adhere.  They should look like the above picture.CLB Pumpkins (16)
Now add your small oval shape onto the group in the front, adhere with a clear dot. CLB Pumpkins (17)
Cut a little stem approx 1/4” wide from the Textured Chocolate Chip cardstock and adhere with a drop of glue between the 2 sections of pumpkin pieces, in the middle. CLB Pumpkins (19)
Punch 3 leaves from your small leaf punch and ink the edges the same as the pumpkin shapes. CLB Pumpkins (20)
Instead of embossing a line down the center for detail, I decided to pierce a 5 holes down the center of each leaf.  Your option.  I like the detail either gives to the project. CLB Pumpkins (22)
Now turn your shape over, and a clear adhesive dot and place your leaves… CLB Pumpkins (23)
As you can see in the above photo, I nearly missed.  *smile*  But it worked fine. CLB Pumpkins (24)
Now with a paint brush and some baby powder or corn starch, brush on the adhesive dot to de-activate the sticky. CLB Pumpkins (25) CLB Pumpkins (26)
Your pumpkin should look like this now, in the photo above. CLB Pumpkins (27)
Using your quilling strip or thin brown paper (not cardstock) and scissors run the strip across one of the blades like your curling ribbon for packages.  You’ll end up doing this 5, 6, 7 times… you want it to be a tight curl. CLB Pumpkins (28)
like above.  Now take both edges and pull til its longer.  You might even have to help turn it… like your wrapping a mint in cellophane, to get it tighter. CLB Pumpkins (29)
Cut off a piece and adhere to the back or middle of your pumpkins.  You can twist and flatten the spot of your curlique that your going to adhere to the back of your pumpkin.  Isn’t it gorgeous!!!  Now for the taller oblong pumpkin. CLB Pumpkins (30)
Group as shown above, adhering the same way as the previous pumpkin. CLB Pumpkins (32)
Add your leaves… CLB Pumpkins (34)Now place a pop dot on the smaller, round pumpkin in the spot as shown above and adhere to the front of the other pumpkin.  Add another curlique to the left as described above and here’s your gorgeous 3-D Pumpkin.
CLB Pumpkins (35)I’m adding this one to the inside of one of my Thanksgiving/Fall themed cards.  It would be a fabulous focal point on the front too.  Or you could make it into a place holder for your Thanksgiving Table, like I did below…
CLB Pumpkins (39)I added a small card to the back, so it would stand on the table.  I then used the Curly Label punch and punched a piece of Soft Suede Textured Cardstock and wrote Paige’s name and adhered with clear dots.   Here’s the back side…CLB Pumpkins (37)I hope you enjoyed my Pumpkin Punch Art tutorial today.  I love punch art.  It can add so much to your paper crafting project.  If you have a minute, leave me a comment and let me know if you liked my project.  I had so much fun making it for you.  If you’d like to know when I post more projects, just sign up to receive my email notices or thru the RSS feed above.  You could even become a follower.

Pals Paper Arts Challenge #13 Bag-a- lope

I was over at Dawns Stampin Thoughts the other day and came across her Bag-a-lope.  So I had to make one for the PPA.  The challenge this week is “Anything but a Card”.  Bag-a-lopeCLB1I’m adding 2 Almond Hershey Chocolate bars… cool.  Of course this ones mine.  lol  I decided to leave this on my desk with Hershey Bars, permanently.  Those who know me, would assume I already have something like this on my desk.  I’m addicted, I eat some kind of Hershey’s everyday.  This week, I’m into Hersey’s Dark Chocolate Nuggets.
I made this paper into an A-2 envelope using double sided paper from my stash, opened an SU envelope, traced it onto my double sided paper, made my envelope and finished it using Dawns video.  If you need a quick gift bag, this is the one to make.  You can use any size envelope and you can decorate your plain premade envelopes as in the video.  Wouldn’t one of these be cute with a bottle of perfume in it.
The Butterfly is from the Stamp Set Flores sauves #112913 in the SU Spanish IBC.  Here’s a pic and you can order it anytime.   Please let me know, I’d be happy to order it for you.  That little chocolate saying stamp is from the $1 bins at Michaels.  I think, upon reflection that I will go back and add some Crystal Effects to the butterfly… it needs to be shiny.  I112913F Enjoy… and thanks for looking today.  Remember to play at the PPA.  Be sure to stay tuned for next weeks challenge too… October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the ‘pink’ price package is going to be awesome!!!!

Live, Laugh, Love Embroidery

Live Laugh Love Embroidery (2)
This is another image from my stash.  I had everything done except the flowers.  So I sat down and did a little straight stiching on the stems and petals and then added french knots on the ends of the petals all the way around and in the centers for stamens.  Here’s a closeup…
Live Laugh Love Embroidery
image
I haven’t done the inside yet, don’t really know what do to with it yet.
For card embroidery I use DMC Cotton Perle #5.  Its small enough to go thru the holes from your piercing needle and it doesn’t fray like regular 6 strand embroidery floss will.  You know, you half way thru your embroidery and then one of those little strands breaks… it just doesn’t happen with the DMC Cotton Perle #5.
Be sure to use a heavier cardstock when you want to embroider, otherwise your design will be lumpy and bumpy and not be flat.  I pop dotted my embroidered image because of all the tape I used on the back to secure my thread.
I love to do embroidery, I just don’t like the time it takes to do a project… so these little smaller card projects are quick and easy and can be completed while watching “Castle”.  I love that and I get a healthy dose of eye candy.  *smile*
I have a couple projects in mind with SU Stamps and an Embroidery Tutorial on its way.  Become a follower or sign up to receive my updates via RSS Feed or you can have my updates delivered right to your in-box, that way you’ll be the first to know when my tutorial is posted.
You need be on the look out for my new Blog Design, I am told it will “ROCK” and I believe her… *smile*
I hope you enjoyed my card today.   If there is anything you need in Stampin’ Up, be sure to let me know or click my shop now button.   Hugs,

PPA 12 Sketch Challenge

PPA12 (2)
Finally, I just got back so I could post my card for the Pals Paper Arts Challenge #12.  The challenge this week is a Sketch Challenge by Margaret Moody
image
I changed the circle to an oval.  But, I sure tried with a circle and just decided it had to be an oval for my design.  I’ve been wanting to make a pure white card for ages.  You know, one those ideas that you don’t have to write down to remember.  Its just always with you in the back of your mind.  Well, as soon as I saw this sketch, I knew it had to be white on white.
I just embossed and layered with flower punches, topping the flowers with a white pearl adhesive and lots of pop dots.  Added a little ribbon making sure the bow was on the inside… and its done.
PPA12
This picture of the inside is so blurry, but you get the idea.  I tried and tried to get it not to be.  Plus, I’m in a rush today and that never helps the pictures.
I hope you enjoy my card today.  Hop on over the PPA and give this sketch a try.  You’ll love what the design team has created for you this week.
Hugs,

A Haunted Halloween

PPA11 (4) copy
No, your not seeing double.  I made a card just like this, except it was SUO (Stampin Up Only products).  I made another and added my Martha Stewart punches and a path from the house to the tree.
This is my SUO card…
PPA11 (2) copy I just love the added touches, the goo edging under the house and the witch on her broom in the sky.  Sometimes as Demonstrators we really need to use SUO (Stampin’ Up Only) on our projects and then again sometimes we can add whatever we want.  So we have the best of both worlds.  *smile*
Inside of today's post PPA11 (5) copy                                  Inside of SUO post    PPA11 (3) copy
You’ll be seeing this set again, I’ll be making some things for Wes, my Ghost Hunter and son.
If you’d like the details on making this card, click here for the SUO version and just add MS punches.

Hugs,
