Stampin’ UP’s Bella Blue…

BellaBlueInspiredbyBeate-2

Good Saturday morning to all.  Hope this finds everyone having a good morning.  This is the first Fan Fold Flower I did from  Beate’s Fan Fold Flower Tutorial.   Plus I used the fabulous Bella Blue DSP #113974.  BellaBlueInspiredbyBeate

This is just a super short post today.  I work every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, every Tuesday too.  Then sometimes Kroger's and errands just get in the way of blogging, oh and of course cooking and cleaning.  Its paying bills this morning and then off to work.

I hope you enjoy this quick little card.  Hugs to all

EEK! Your Sweet, PPA 5

Today’s Pals Paper Arts Challenge is to do a Halloween Theme.  I choose to make these “Designer Box in a Bag” from this tutorial.  I  had so much fun making these, I wish I hadn’t ran out of paper.  But I immediately placed an order.  *smile*   You can also catch the one Lisa made for PPA 4 here, this is where I first saw them.  PPA 5 EEKYourSweet (4)

I chose to add a window to mine using the punches and Nestibilities, with matching tags on each one.   I filled in the windows with a piece of clear transparency.  I then popped in a bag of M ‘n M’s in Halloween colors.

PPA 5 EEKYourSweet (8)

With this bag I layered the goo/blood drops edging and striped section of DSP onto the paper before rolling it onto the box.  (I waited one whole year for that punch!!!  I finally just got it the other day.)  That way I was sure it would be square when I was done.  No window on this one, just a gigantic spider I stamped in Versa Vine and then embossed in detail black and cut out.  I adhered the spider on with black pop dots.

PPA 5 EEKYourSweet (2)

These are the M ‘n M’s I used to fill my bags.  You can just drop the bag right in.  I did have to cushion the bottom of my bag with a couple wadded up paper towels so you could see the M ‘n M’s thru my punched windows.  I also used a 40% off on the M ‘n M’s otherwise there not cheap.  *smile*

Tip:  I used the Horizontal Slot punch on the front and back of the bag to thread the ribbon thru to close the bag.  After punching your slots for the ribbon, and before threading the ribbon thru, take a piece of tape (I used packing tape) and tape over the slot you just punched, (I just wrapped it over the top of the bag so both sides were reinforced) and then punch again, now thread your ribbon thru and tie.  These bags hold a lot, you’ll be glad you added the reinforcement.  I tore mine and did this after the fact and you can’t even see the tape, the ribbon is wide enough to hide it.  So on the next 2 bags I just went ahead and reinforced them before I tore the bag.  *smile*

Are you a Stampin’ UP Collector?

GOSFriendshipGrows1 GOSFriendshipGrows1 (6)

I’ve been collecting some ‘older’ retired sets, mostly florals and children's sets for the last couple of years. A ‘few’ of my favorites are Tender Toile, Friends, Friendship Grows, And Everything Nice, because they remind me of my 2 Granddaughers, Gabby who is 10 and Paige who’ll be 8 this Nov. Gabby is a “Game Boy” type of gal and Paige is a true little crafter and loves all flowers just like I do.

Paige’s first picture from Kindergarten ‘art class’ *smile* was a huge flower picture she painted for me with her watercolors. Paige already knows how to use my stamps and inkpads, my paper cutter, light box, and of course my new Bigshot. She loves to color her stamping in with colored pencils and markers. When she does her yearly Christmas shopping, I always get a ‘crafters gift’ because “Nana is crafty”. *smile*

So, I’ve decided I am going to do a “Golden Oldies Monthly Feature” of Stampin UP retired sets, for my girls. Paige gets such a kick out of the older stamps. As I go along, I will give these cards/projects to Paige to give to Gabby or as a collection for them to give to friends or family.

So please join me in my SU Golden Oldies Monthly Feature. If you’d like a set of the stamped images from the retired set I’ve currently posted, on Whisper White cardstock stamped with Magenta Tuxedo Black or Stazon Jet Black… leave me a me a comment below with your email, so I can respond for your address and I’d be happy to send you a set.

Friendship Grows (Retired)

Pink Flamingo DSP #113976

Cameo Coral Textured Cardstock

Real Red Cardstock

Polychromo Colored Pencils and Gamsol

Oh I had so much fun making this for today's challenge. I just love to play at the PPA!

The front cover is a fan fold flower, you can find Beate’s video tutorial here, scroll to the bottom of the tutorial for the Video.

To color in God’s Beauty flowers and butterflies, I used SU markers in So Saffron, Bordering Blue and Certainly Celery. I used Copic Sketch marker, RV11 Pink, to color in the pink flowers to match the Pink Pirouette thats in Bella Birds.

There’s a few photo’s of Gatefold Albums at SCS. I will find where I got these instructions and post them for you in the next day or two. Edited to add: I found that this album is also called a Flip Album, here are those directions. Enjoy!!! Be sure to check out the PPA and post your ‘Anything but a Card’ today. I hope you enjoyed my Gatefold Album today and have a terrific day!!! Hugs, carlascraps copy

Splitcoast CC232

Good day to everyone, here’s my take on the Color Challenge over at SCS. The colors were Close to Cocoa, Taken with Teal, and Very Vanilla. I chose to layer some flowers with SU 5 petal punch, the center with the SU Boho Blossoms Punch and the middle layer with the green Marvy Daisy Punch. I used the Teeny Tiny Words sentiment, just for you centering it in the oval Hodgepodge Hardware Kit oval.

I hope you enjoy my card today. Please leave me a quick comment if you have time. I would love to hear from you. Hugs,

Masculine Get Well

DSCF4960 copy

IMGP0485 copy

Hope today finds everyone doing well. I did this masculine card today, well because I never have any on hand. So if my focus turns to ‘guy cards’ for awhile, thats the reason. *smile*

As you can see in the two photo’s I forgot to add the hightlights onto the balloon on the front of the card. Which means, its a good thing I blog, or I probably wouldn’t of noticed that. Its funny what you see when you get a different perspective on things.

My card is based on the SCS Sketch Challenge 236. I like that layout and thought it would do well for a manly card.

My ingredients for today’s card are as follows…

Stamps: Loads of Love #115022
Teeny Tiny Wishes # 115370
Ink: Jet Black Stazon
SU Black Marker
Mercury Silver Galaxy Marker
Paper: Patterns Pack DSP Level III (Hostess Level 1)
Sahara Sand
Whisper White Cardstock
Real Red Cardstock
Black Textured Cardstock
Punches: SU Large Oval #107305
SU Scallop Oval #114889
Martha Stewart’s Balloon
EK Success Photo Corners
Misc: Black Metal Dots by Colorbox
Black Floss

Todays tip would be from the inside card photo, assuming you don’t have a Stamp-a-ma-jig or like to do things a tad faster, like me. I stamped the Get Well Wishes onto the striped paper with the stripes going vertically. If you stamp it with lines going horizontally… you really waste a lot of paper trying to get the words even with the lines. If you don’t, you have to decide should the stripes line up or the words and either way you choose, its still gonna look crooked. So stamp it across the lines, not with the lines.

Well, I’m off to another project. (truthfully its a nap with the cats,) So stay tuned. Remember, I’m here 24/7 if you’d like to place a Stampin’ UP! order with me. Just click on my Shop Now button in the upper right hand corner of my blog. Any questions, just click here. I hope everyone is having a terrific week. Hugs,

Beary Colorful Kids Card…

PPA3 (2)

Can you believe its the Pals Paper Arts Challenge #3. Wow!!! Today is an inspiration challenge, from the photo below left.PPA3 My goal was to create a bright, cheerful card. I chose to preview 2 new stamps set from the upcoming new Holiday Mini Catalog which will be available Sept. 1st. My sentiment comes from Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set.

PPA3InspirationPhoto

I chose a simple kids theme card, using Beary Best Friends and Sweet Centers Stamp Sets. Along with the soon to be released DSP Pawsitively Prints.

The colors I used are… Brilliant Blue, Yo Yo Yellow, Real Red, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Bashful Blue and Lovely Lilac.

I punched various sized circles from SU’s circle punches, some re-punching a smaller hole out of them and layering them as in the middle chalkboard of the inspiration photo and also using as my background on the inside of the card.

IMGP0506

I thought a pop up card would be fun for a child, so using my Sizzix Pop Up Die I popped the heart from the Sweet Centers Stamp Set. I used the 1 3/8 heart punch to cut out the saying, I ‘heart’ you, and using the 1 3/4 circle punch to cut out a bit more of the heart, to enable you to see thru to the background. I then took the Heart to Heart punch and used a small heart to center onto the heart of the stamp set. Whew, thats hard to say.

PPA3 (5)

My “SU Designs ©Build-A-Bear Workshop” Stamp Set, Beary Best Friends, is stamped onto the Close to Cocoa Cardstock. I then stamped addional images onto the Pawsitively Prints DSP and cut out the shirt, jeans and tennis shoes, layering them onto the bear with clear dots. As you can see in the photo, I forgot to finish his nose… *smile* his nose is restamped onto Chocolate Chip cardstock, cut out and adhered to cover his nose. *smile* I would fix that for you, but I am absolutely out of time. But, I will fix it before it goes to some lucky child.

Well its time for me to sign off today. I sure hope you pop on on over to the Pals Paper Arts Challenge Blog and see what the designers have done with the Inspiration Photo. I just know your gonna love them… you’ll be so inspired to create a card for some very lucky recipient.

Hydrangea and Butterflies…

DSCF4968 copy DSCF4971 copy

My cards inspiration today is from SCS CC230, even though I didn’t use Blush Blossom. The colors were…CC230colorI’ve been wanting to use the Hydrangea from SU’s Bloomin’ Beautiful set. My card isn’t totally SU, because I used the Butterfly Punch from Marvy. Nor is the ‘gift tag’ on the vase of hydrangea’s. I got the little gift tag dies from QVC, a long time ago and they are no longer available. I don’t remember the name, if I do I’ll post it.

The card base is Close to Cocoa, textured. I then layered Whisper White textured with the Cameo Coral Flowers from Pink Flamingo DSP. On top of that I layered Cameo Coral textured and Close to Cocoa textured with an Oval cut large enough to be the background for the Hydrangea clusters out of Whisper White textured. The Close to Cocoa strip across the front is the base for the Delicate Dots Wheel inked in Certainly Celery on Whisper White textured, to match the leaves in the vase. The flower centers are from my white, extra fine point Sharper Poster Paint Marker. I have one of every size, they are wonderful white opaque markers. The butterflies are cut from Whisper White textured cardstock that I ran the Delicate Dots Wheel over in Cameo Coral. I then positioned the punch around the flowers and had polka dot butterflies.

No tips today, but does anyone know what's missing from my card? Nope, I’m not giving you one ‘sparklin’ clue. *smile* The hydrangea is colored with Cameo Coral Re-inker and Pure Acetone with a touch of the Cameo Coral Marker for more depth. You can find the tutorial here for the Coloring Technique, its called Copycat Copics by Donna Centamore. I purchased my Pure Acetone from Sally Beauty Supply. This technique is very fun and forgiving. The leaves are the Certainly Celery Marker.

I also cut out and popped some individual flowers on the flower cluster.

Pals Paper Arts Challenge 2

Today's card is made using the Cottage Wall DSP with Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive Cardstock. This by far is my favorite SU DSP paper. I would like to say this is an SU only card, but my SU Scalloped Edge punch is in this huge box I have on the UPS truck… oh I can’t wait.

Here’s one of my tips for you today… I like using the same exact patterned papers in different colors, like on the front of my card, lining it up so it looks like one piece of DSP. Ya waste a little paper, but I even keep those scraps for thin paper ribbons.

Carla’s Ingredients…

Stamps: One of a Kind and Retired Bold Greeting

Ink: Rich Razzleberry

Paper: Rich Razzleberry Crdstk, Old Olive Cardstk, Cottage Wall DSP

Misc: SU Heart Punch, Fiskars Treading Water Edge Punch, Green Gems

I hope you enjoyed my take on the PPA Sketch Challenge today. I sure enjoyed making it. This wonderful sketch is by Pals Member Margaret Moody. Margaret has just started blogging, so jump on over and visit her blog.
